Re-Enrollment

When analyzing the positive significance of caring adults on student’s resilience, Dr. Watts believes that districts should establish re-enrollment programs for youth who drop out of high school. These programs consist of school, home, and community support teams that visit homes and sites of resilience to encourage those who have dropped out to re-enroll into a GED program or high school.  Students who receive information on the re-enrollment process in this way are more likely to re-enroll and complete their diploma. Re-enrollment programs should include a transitional counselor who works with the students on an ongoing basis (24/7) and holds them accountable and sets high expectations for their re-enrollment and completion of their diploma; all demonstrating the significance of adults in students developing their resilience. Dr. Watts will assist districts in designing, implementing, and evaluating re-enrollment programs to improve the graduation rate and fiscal management of districts as students return back to their home schools.
